Francization

Language laws might as well be in Greek, but they cannot be ignored. They are often complicated and confusing, so how can you demystify them? How can they be used to your advantage? What are the government's expectations? How are you supposed to implement them? How can language quality have tangible benefits on customer service, employees and the company's image? Though they may be frustrating at times, language laws can bring big benefits when implemented in your business practices.

With a decade of expertise, we have solutions and tools that have been tested and proven with businesses like yours. We work closely with our clients to assess each situation in light of their concerns and objectives. We make sure our francization projects fill you with encouragement rather than frustration! And remember, francization does not mean that English will be replaced.

Here is a list of the ways GP Conceptal can help manage a francization project. Each step is adapted to your specific needs and situation.

We set up a meeting to familiarize ourselves with your company and clarify the expectations set by the Office québécois de la langue française.
We perform an analysis on how French is being used in all of the company's activities in Quebec (using a linguistic situation analysis form developed by the OQLF).
We manage the negotiation process and act as your company's spokesperson in discussions with the OQLF.
We set up an internal francization committee (upon request we can also chair this committee; for companies of 100 or more employees, such a committee is required by the Quebec Charter of the French Language).
We draw up a francization program where needed.
We submit the proposed program to the OQLF for approval.
We organize events that show off the company and its quality French: participation in Quebec's Francofête, French language classes at all levels, creation of a glossary of terms used in French and more.
We help you write policies and procedures, training materials, press releases and other francization-related documents.
We prepare and file reports with the OQLF.
We represent your company before the OQLF to update them on your compliance progress (these updates are mandatory when a case with the OQLF is in dispute; GP Conceptal can represent you in such a situation).
We help companies prepare grant applications.
We help you obtain an OQLF francization certificate (from registration, analysis and approvals to maintaining francization).
We do periodic reviews to ensure the permanence of your francization in accordance with the OQLF certificate.
